This CD contains pianist Bill Evans’ two complete quartet albums with flutists: "WHAT’S NEW" with Jeremy Steig and "NIRVANA" with Herbie Mann. The pianist would never again record with a flute player in a small band setting.

-It has always seemed to me that the small jazz group of solo instrument in front of piano, bass and drums, represents, perhaps, the purest combination for desirable playing and listening; something like a gem in its ideal setting.
