NEW JAZZ FIND!! UNISSUED 1959 RECORDINGS BY THE BEST JAZZ MESSENGERS

The Dutch label Nederlands Jazz Archief has presented a new find for jazz collectors. ART BLAKEY AND THE JAZZ MESSENGERS -JUSTICE offers a never before released complete concert taped live at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on Saturday, November 14, 1959.

It presents one of the best formations ever of the Messengers, with Lee Morgan on trumpet, Wayne Shorter on tenor sax, Walter Davis Jr., on piano, Jymie Merritt on bass, and the leader on drums. The repertoire doesn't depart much from the usual Messengers sets of the period, but improvisations are vital and new –as is expected from such artists–, and sound quality is first rate. The 16-page booklet includes original memorabilia and rare photos from the actual concert, as well as specially written liner notes.
