During the Sixties, Herb Alpert created some of the most popular instrumental music of all time with his group The Tijuana Brass. His style blended catchy tunes, and a lively easy-jazz brassiness, over a Mexican mariachi backdrop. This quintessential release contains Alpert’s magnificent debut album for his A&M label, The Lonely Bull (1962). With its cinematic mix of dramatic brass fanfares, crowd noise, chorus, twangy guitar, and mandolins, the song “The Lonely Bull” became a hit, while introducing the world to the unique personal sound of Herb Alpert.

The whole album was originally issued in both mono and stereo versions, and has been remastered here in this very special collector’s edition, which features the classic LP in both formats. This edition also included 4 bonus tracks, consisting of hard-to-find sides from Herb’s first steps as a vocalist, under the alter-ego Dore Alpert.

All of these fabulous tunes serve as the best introduction for anyone wanting to explore the music from Alpert’s early career. This is the material upon which his reputation and trademark sound were built.
