In 1960, French pianist Jacques Loussier (who is about to celebrate his 80th birthday), along with well-known bassist Pierre Michelot and drummer Christian Garros, made their first attempts to translate the magic of Johann Sebastian Bach’s compositions into the jazz idiom. The albums were so successful that the pianist would repeat the formula many times in subsequent years. This edition compiles the first three volumes of "Play Bach" (Decca 40.500, 40.502 & 40.507). Also included on this 2CD set is the the same trio’s following album, "Jacques Loussier Joue Kurt Weill" (RCA Victor 541.062), on which they perform classic songs by the famous German composer.
