This LP contains one of Eric Dolphy’s only two real incursions into the world of Latin jazz. Even though some other isolated songs from his discography might have a certain Latin flavor – such as “Men from South Africa”, from the Max Roach album Percussion Bitter Sweet, the two albums with the Latin Jazz Quintet (the one presented here, The Latin Jazz Quintet, and Caribé) were Dolphy’s only works completely defined by this music style.
