Il Corpo is the last movie completing Liugi Scattini’s trilogy, which started with La ragazza dalla pelle di luna (1972) and then continued with La ragazza fuoristrada (1973), all skillfully orchestrated by maestro Umiliani.

Inevitably, Umiliani’s music privileges jazz and funky moods, dominated by the Hammond organ and wah wah – which were typical in many movies of the mid ‘70s – alternated with languid and almost “sleazy” instrumental ballads. “Hard times”, “Stream” and “White sand” remind us of Umiliani’s familiarity with jazz atmospheres, while “In the end” and “Free life” bring to our mind white sand beaches, naked bodies lying in the sun and erotic scenes. This soundtrack finds its strength in melancholy, but also in drama and tension – and it beautifully complements Scattini’s trilogy.

TRACKS:

  • SIDE A
  • A1. HARD TIMES
  • A theme, the slightly dramatic atmosphere of which is caused by bows' entrances on a modern rhythm.
  • A2. FREE LIFE
  • A melodic, descriptive, sweet theme having a slightly exotic taste.
  • A3. STREAM
  • A modern rhythm, performed with african percussion instru-ments; it is an athematic composition, moderately mosso.
  • A4. PRINCESS
  • Melodic bows' performance, sweetly descriptive.
  • A5. THE BODY
  • Melodic theme, with the same feature of the former one but having a slightly slower time.
  • A6. DESERT ISLAND
  • The bass flute performs this melody on a slow and exotic rhythm.
  • A7. DUSKEN
  • A sweet melodic line performed by the soprano saxophone, without any rhythmical accompaniment. Then an organ's entrance follows, with rhythmical accompaniment.
  • SIDE B
  • B1. CHASER
  • A modern, mosso, athematic rhythmical composition, with acoustic effects like those caused by bows.
  • B2. TIDAL STREAM
  • Ostinato of bass with entrances of various percussion instru-ments on acoustic effects like those caused by bows. This is an athematic composition with a moderate time.
  • B3. WHITE SAND
  • Exotic percussions beat type, with melodic hints and obses-sive entrances of the guitar and of the bows.
  • B4. IN THE END
  • A melodic theme (like no. 6 of Side 1). Bows orchestra and womanly soloist voice.
  • B5. PRINCESS
  • A melodic theme (like no. 4 of Side 1) performed by the bass flute, with entrances of wa-wa guitar.
  • B6. THE BODY
  • A romantic theme performed by the soprano saxophone, with organ's pedal, piano's and guitar's harmonies, cymbals' percus-sions, with no time. (Melody like no. 5 of Side 1).
  • B7. DESERT ISLAND
  • Melody like no. 6 of side 1. The motif is performed by the guitar, with a slight sea sound obtained by means of the pianofender and of the piano.
