4 COMPLETE ORIGINAL ALBUMS ON 2-CD SET

French composer, arranger, conductor, and pianist Michel Legrand (aged 84 at this writing) is best known for his often-haunting film music and scores. However, throughout his long career he also recorded more than one hundred albums.

This CD contains two of his best LPs: "Legrand Jazz" (Columbia CL1250), which marked his first collaboration with such important jazzmen as Miles Davis, Art Farmer, John Coltrane, Ben Webster, and Bill Evans, among many others, and "Legrand Piano" (Columbia CS 8237), featuring Legrand on piano in a trio format. Both albums appear here in their entireties.

As a bonus, two additional complete albums by Legrand from the same period have been included: "Michel Legrand Big Band Plays Richard Rodgers" (Philips PHS 600-074), featuring a who’s who of star soloists, such as Clark Terry, Phil Woods and Paul Gonsalves, and "Broadway Is My Beat" (Philips PHS 600-000).
