This release presents the original Alfred Newman soundtrack to the celebrated Billy Wilder film "The Seven Year Itch" (1955), a romantic comedy based on the homonymous three-act play by George Axelrod.
The film was co-written and directed by Billy Wilder, and stars Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell, reprising his Broadway role from the play. It contains one of the most iconic images of the 20th century – Monroe standing on a subway grate as her white dress is blown by a passing train.
Alfred Newman (1901-1970) was a famous American composer, arranger, and conductor of film music, whose career spans more than four decades. To round out this LP, Newman’s original soundtrack to the film "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing", from the same year, has been added as
a bonus.
