NEVER BEFORE RELEASED

This release presents a complete previously unissued set by Stan Getz and J.J. Johnson in a quintet format. After their celebrated 1957 performances at the Opera House in Chicago and at the Shrine Auditorium in los Angeles. Getz and Johnson were recorded together again during a 1960 J.A.T.P. European tour, from which our two rare bonus tracks have been taken. They would never record as a team again until the 1988 Chicago concert presented here, which was also their very last known collaboration ever !. The two horns are accompanied by the all-star trio that made up Getz’s regular rhythm section during that period, with Kenny Barron on piano, Rufus Reid on bass, and Victor Lewis on drums.
