This record is an amazing collection of talent stuffed into two sides of free jazz scorch. The ranks of SSWAN find Jessica Ackerley, Patrick Shiroishi, Chris Williams, Luke Stewart, and Jason Nazary teaming up for a record that’s heady and undeniably fun.

Ackerly’s riffs burn through the speakers with an insistence that’s hard to deny. Shiroishi is always a delight on any record, but here he’s sparring with Chris Williams in a volley of brass and breath that’s bewildering to behold while Stewart and Nazary vault through rhythmic contortions that would make lesser players fatigue. Invisibility is an Unnatural Disaster is out on the excellent 577 Records and should be an essential pickup for anyone watching the Astral Spirits and adjacent spaces these days./p>
