"Taylor's Wailers" showcases the phenomenal talent of jazz drummer Art Taylor, who, after a decade of playing with legends like Howard McGhee and Bud Powell, formed his own group in 1956. This album, recorded in 1957 at the Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey, captures the essence of hard bop with an all-star lineup including Donald Byrd on trumpet, Jackie McLean on alto saxophone, Charlie Rouse on tenor saxophone, Ray Bryant on piano, and Wendell Marshall on bass.

Two standout tracks, "Well, You Needn't" and "Off Minor," are Thelonious Monk compositions with his own arrangements. Additionally, "C.T.A." features the talents of John Coltrane, Red Garland, and Paul Chambers. This reissue offers jazz enthusiasts a chance to experience Taylor’s rhythmically dynamic group, Taylor's Wailers, in a superior 180-gram mono vinyl format, true to the original LP with a flat edge profile and deep groove label.
