Known as the “Giant of the Keyboards”, Carlos Manuel “Charlie” Palmieri (1927-1988) was born in South Bronx, New York, after his parents migrated from Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1926. During his extended career, Palmieri worked with his brother Eddie, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Herbie Mann, Ismael Rivera, Rafael Cortijo, Ismael Quintana, Bobby Capó, Mongo Santamaría, Cal Tjader, and Ray Barretto, among many others.
Presented here is the complete album Easy Does It, recorded in 1959 and featuring him as the main soloist in a quartet only including his piano plus bass and percussion.
