Faces of Love is veteran pianist/composer Peter Madsen's 13th release as a leader on the Playscape Recordings label.

Writes Madsen in his liner notes, "In this post-covid era of global unrest, political polarization, and relational tension full of high levels of hate and anger, I felt a desperate need to compose and record music of a different nature. I wanted to focus on something more positive and important emotionally. Music that could inspire connection, beauty, growth, and wonder. I decided to compose music about love. Love in its various forms.

"For inspiration I chose poems of love from authors around the world who wrote with words what I wanted to say musically. I found poems from both men and women from Japan, Portugal, England, Iran, India and more. As with my last trio recording, 88 Butterfly, I composed music full of shifting harmony, odd meters and beautiful melodies that give life to the many faces of love.

"I want to thank my musical partners on this recording, the fantastic Herwig Hammerl on double bass (and recording engineer) and the creative wizard Martin Grabher on drums and percussion. Over the years we have played together on many different projects and I'm very grateful that they continue to share their talents to make my music sound so great!"
