This release contains the complete original album Jazz Workshop Revisited (Riverside RLP9444), one of Cannonball Adderley’s strongest efforts of the early 1960s, featuring his brother Nat, as well as reedman Yusef Lateef, pianist Joe Zawinul, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Louis Hayes. Among the LP’s many highlights is the earliest version of Nat’s celebrated tune “The Jive Samba”. In addition to all of the existing tunes from the dates, it is included three extra bonus tracks taped by the same group at the same venue the previous day, thus completing all known music from the 1962 Jazz Workshop gig.
