4 1/2 STARS ALL MUSIC GUIDE
INCLUDES 3 BONUS TRACKS
This LP contains some of the best efforts by the vocalist/arranger team of Dinah Washington and Quincy Jones. Their first encounter was the long session of March 15, 1955 that produced eight splendid readings of standards. Two days later, on March 17, another session was scheduled for Dinah and Quincy with Balmost the same formation, on which five titles were recorded. The next preserved Washington-Jones collaboration took place the following year on June 25, 1956. After these 1956 sessions, Dinah and Quincy wouldn’t record together again Buntil 1961, when they both participated (from April to December) on an extended Bbatch of sessions which would also mark their last known collaboration. Sadly, Dinah died of an overdose on December 14, 1963, at the tender age of 39.
