4 STARS ALL MUSIC GUIDE
This release present the complete original album "Whatever Julie Wants" (Liberty LRP 3192), by the amazing Julie London. It features a wonderful array of popular songs conducted and arranged by Felix Slatkin.
The LP is complemented here by the singer’s complete thematic album, "About the Blues" (Liberty LRP 3043), in which she devotes her sensuous voice to a variety of blues and blues-inspired tunes. This second LP was conducted and arranged by the well-known Russell Garcia, and one of the Bobby Troup originals, “Meaning of the Blues”, would be immortalized by Miles Davis when he recorded it (arranged by Gil Evans) on the classic album Miles Ahead.
Four extra Julie London performances from the latter album’s sessions, which were originally issued by the Liberty label as singles, have been added as a further bonus.
