OSCAR ACADEMY AWARD - BEST THEME SONG

This release presents Henry Mancini’s complete original soundtrack to the classic 1962 Blake Edwards film Days of Wine and Roses. Featuring Jack Lemmon, Lee Remick, Charles Bickford and Jack Klugman, the film depicts the downward spiral of two average Americans who succumb to alcoholism and attempt to deal with their problems.

It received an Academy Award for its theme song, which, like most of the soundtrack, was composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. The film received four other Oscar nominations, including Best Actor and Best Actress. Further versions of the theme song (which soon became a jazz standard) by Julie London, Barney Kessel, and Laurindo Almeida, as well as an alternative reading by Henry Mancini himself, have been added here as a bonus.
