2-CD SET

This release presents the complete original two-volume set recorded by the Miles Davis Quintet live at San Francisco’s Blackhawk, and first issued as "Miles Davis in Person at the Blackhawk Vols. 1 & 2" (Columbia CS8469/CS 8470). It is one of the very few recordings Miles made with Hank Mobley on tenor sax (the two other official sets by this quintet were "Someday My Prince Will Come" and "Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall"). Also showcased here is the splendid classic rhythm section of Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums, which played and recorded many times as an independent trio.
