Great 70s work by Dollar Brand! US issue of an album that Brand recorded in South Africa for the Gallo label -- featuring players that include Basil Mannenberg Coetzee on tenor, Duku Makasi on tenor, and Dennis Mpale on trumpet.

"Soweto" is a long groover that runs for over 15 minutes -- slow rhythms dancing with piano as the horns make their way over the top. "African Herbs" is a mellower, but cooler number that has Brand on electric piano and soprano sax -- grooving in a slow African mode, but also hitting a bit of a CTI vibe.
