This release presents three unforgettable albums by Gonzaga: A História do Nordeste na Voz de Luiz Gonzaga (RCA Victor BPL-3004), O Nordeste na Voz de Luiz Gonzaga (RCA Victor BBL-1199), and Lua (RCA Victor BBL-1115). The last one was Gonzaga’s first album specifically recorded for LP format (all of his previous LPs had been compilations of 78s and singles). The record is also unique in that it lacks any songs from his famous partnerships with Humberto Teixeira or Zé Dantas. There is quite a lot of variety on this album, reflecting how Gonzaga was simultaneously “inventing” a genre of music and also constantly expanding its boundaries.
