Of all the early soul and R&B vocal groups formed in Detroit in the mid-50s, The Miracles proved to be the most successful. They played a key role in helping transform the Motor City and the record company named after it, into an international center of popular music. Fronted by Smokey Robinson, the band developed an instantly recognizable Motown sound – a sound which would forever change R&B and pop music. MThis quintessential release presents The Miracles’ two first LPs: Hi... We’re The Miracles (1961) and Cookin’ with The Miracles (1962). Both masterpieces were originally issued by Tamla Records, and have been remastered and packaged together in this very special collector’s edition, which also includes 7 bonus tracks from the same period. The legendary Berry Gordy, Jr. became the producer for the group, and the combination of talents resulted in many hit singles, including “Who’s Lovin’ You”, “Way Over There”, “Everybody’s Gotta Pay Some Dues” and the sensational “Shop Around”, which climbed to number two on U.S. charts.
