He presented a hybrid style that was tied to his unique personality and mannerisms. A blues and R&B foundation anchors many of his songs, while many others have a dramatic cabaret feel. This essential release presents the enigmatic pioneer’s breakthrough 1958 long play, At Home with Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. The songs included on the album mark the best introduction into his singular career. In addition to the original LP masterpiece, this remastered collector’s CD contains 15 bonus tracks – including hard-to-find sides taped between 1956 and 1962.
