This quintessential release presents the rare and long out of print South African edition of the Jailhouse Rock LP (1958), which marked the album’s lone appearance on the 12-inch format. Five of the six songs performed by Elvis in the movie Jailhouse Rock were originally issued in 1957 on the eponymous 7-inch EP released worldwide. Although the sixth song from Bthe soundtrack, “Treat Me Nice”, was not included on the 7-inch EP, it did appear on the 12-inch LP (and therefore, it is also present on this release), which also contained well-known and previously released Elvis numbers from that period that were not part of the film. The Jailhouse Rock LP has been remastered for this collector’s edition, which also includes 4 bonus tracks from the same period.
