INCLUDES 4 BONUS TRACKS
The complete original LP Gillespiana (Verve MGV8394), the first of many collaborations between Dizzy Gillespie and Argentinean pianist Lalo Schifrin. In addition to his role as the band’s pianist, Schifrin also composed the complete “Gillespiana” suite. A week after the studio session, the “Gillespiana” suite was performed live in Paris in a quintet format. Four of the five movements from that concert have been added here as a bonus, allowing us to compare the orchestral and small group versions.
