DE LUXE 4-CD BOX SET  -  32-PAGE BOOKLET

LIMITED EDITION COLLECTOR'S ITEM

This release contains the complete sessions by the John Coltrane Quintet with Red Garland on piano and Donald Byrd on trumpet. Originally issued on many different albums, this is the first time this body of music is ever presented alone on one single edition. Recorded while Trane was working for Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk, these splendid quintet sides show the saxophonist's development prior to his 1960 quartet with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones.

Another complete Coltrane-Garland quintet session, with Freddie Hubbard on trumpet instead of Donald Byrd, has been added as a bonus at the end of CD 4

Included here are the complete original albums:

ALL MORNIN' LONG (Prestige 7130) - Down Beat 4 Stars
SOUL JUNCTION (Prestige (7181) - Down Beat 4 Stars
HIGH  PRESSURE  (Prestige 7209) - Down Beat 4 1/2 Stars
THE BELIEVER ( Prestige7292)
as well as all of the Coltrane-Byrd-Garland quintet tracks from
LUSH LIFE (Prestige 7188)
