A fantastic collaboration between Andrew Potter and David Tillman – a duo who only cut a handful of records back in the day, all of them great! Potter & Tillman have a very collaborative spirit here – which opens the door to a host of hip soulful talents – including the great Walter Bishop Jr on piano and keyboards, Justo Almario on tenor, Ryo Kawasaki on guitar, Adam Rudolph on percussion, and a very young Carmen Lundy on vocals! Tillman plays a fair bit of keyboards – and many of the tracks have lots of great keyboard lines interacting with driving rhythms from Potter – a hell of a percussionist, and one who really gives the record a nice earthy core. Most tunes are instrumental, but Carmen Lundy serves up a great early take on her classic "Good Morning Kiss" – alongside other tunes that include "Renaissance Man Chapter One", "Just Passing Thru", "In Your Eyes", "Snake Funk (part 2)", "Fonton From Funky Bunky", and "Now-stalgia".
