It would be hard to find two musicians born in the same year with so different a sound from each other as Art Tatum and Ben Webster. The former, considered one of the few authentic geniuses of jazz piano, is best known for being a virtuoso soloist of outstanding precision. The latter is among the most celebrated sax players in jazz history, especially for having been a member of Duke Ellington’s great orchestra.
