DOWN BEAT original review: DIG IT!
“This LP is another in the series of excellent informal sessions Garland and Coltrane made for Prestige in the late ‘50s. ‘Billie’s Bounce’ has a magnificent Coltrane solo. Ideas flow from his horn with startling rapidity, and for all its floridness the continuity of his playing rarely falters.” (Harvey Pekar)

DOWN BEAT original review: HIGH PRESSURE
“Any of the three albums that resulted from the Garland quintet session would be a worthy and desirable addition to a balanced jazz collection, not the least this one.” (Frank Kofsky)
