Presented on this CD are two complete albums by the AHMAD JAMAL TRIO, both of which appear here FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ON CD. The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd consists of songs from the Leslie Bricusse-Anthony Newley musical with the same title, and includes such hits as “Who Can I Turn To?” and “Feeling Good”. The second LP, Heat Wave, showcases the trio performing a variety of standards, among them Jamal’s only existing version of Sonny Rollins’ “St. Thomas”, and a rare reading of Erroll Garner’s “Misty”.
