A fantastic score from Ennio Morricone – one of those extra-special soundtracks of his that really seem to elevate from the rest – with a sublime blend of elements that's completely unique!
The sound here is in the best Mondo Morricone mode – often slowly stepping, kind of a loungey approach to funk – with isolated strings, moody instrumentation, and some great highlights that include work by Oscar Valdambrini on flugelhorn, Edda Dell'Orso on voice, and I Cantori Moderni on wordless vocals!
The sound is beautiful and spooky at the same time – post-bossa, with that more sophisticated sound that Morricone built up as the 70s moved in.
