Sound engineer Gerard de Haro of the la Buissonne recording studio had long cherished the idea of bringing together two musicians he had often directed, two musicians who had awakened in him a sense of wonder and awareness of their creative possibilities, but who had never played together before: French bassist Vincent Courtois and American pianist Bill Carrothers.

So, Gerard invited both musicians to meet with him and explore ideas for bringing them into studio together, the results of which are on this incredible album Firebirds.

Firebirds is music of dazzling brilliance with subtle and natural interludes. It will undoubtedly become a milestone in Carrothers' and Courtois's respective discographies.
