One of the greatest jazz musicians to ever come out of the UK, saxophonist Edward Brian "Tubby" Hayes began playing professionally when he was just 15 years old, quickly rising to stardom in the late 1950s as co-leader of the legendary Jazz Couriers alongside saxophonist Ronnie Scott.

Recorded in December 1959-shortly after Scott left the Couriers to open his own club (the famed onnie Scott's' in Soho)- Tubby's Groove is widely considered to be one of his greatest studio albums.
