Replica Records reissue Lard Free’s discography in a beautiful homemade wooden box limited to 150 units.

This release in an astounding immersion into the seminal French group, Lard Free. With brand-new, limited-edition vinyl reissues of the band's four full lengths, they break the mold of history, and place this constantly evolving project alongside the best of free jazz, improvised music, electronic experimentation, and prog of its era.

To cap it all off, they've also issued an absolutely stunning, monumental vinyl box set, that includes each of these albums, plus an LP of previously unreleased material, recorded during the '70s in Brussels, that is unavailable anywhere else. With each release as incredible as the next, this batch is staged to blow some serious minds.

The box includes: Gilbert Artman’s Lard Free + I’m Around About Midnight + III + Unnamed (which includes a limited 7“ record) + Brussels (unreleased live release exclusive to this box). It also features an original booklet with press articles as well as a piece of goody-smelly wood.

  • GILBERT ARTMAN'S LARD FREE (LP)
    • Recorded in just three days and released in 1973, mixing jazz, kraut and prog rock, Lard Free’s first album is a musical landmark in the French underground scene. To this day, it still matches the perfection of their English and German fellows like Soft Machine and Amon Düül. A true masterpiece.

  • I’M AROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT (LP)
  • Released in 1975 with a slight line-up change, I’m Around About Midnight shifts from rock to a more electronic approach thanks to Richard Pinhas (Heldon) skills with keyboards. More experimental and sophisticated than ever, it shows a band searching for constant musical absoluteness.
    • III (LP)
    • Released only one year prior to their split, III digs even deeper into electronic and experimental territories. Lard Free’s music has never sounded more cinematographic and spacey than on this record which perfectly blends the players, their instruments and some kind of dialog with the Universe.

  • UNNAMED (LP)
  • Never heard before until its release on CD in 1997 (on Spalax Records), Unnamed was recorded a year before Lard Free’s first album and shows a band that totally foresaw the Rock In Opposition movement. Aventurous, never afraid to explore unknown musical lands, Lard Free definitely owns its place in the great History of Rock Music.
  • BRUSSLES (LP)
  • Unreleased live recording which are exclusive to the box set.
