An unreleased session by the late reedman Byard Lancaster – and a record that's got the Philly legend at his most spiritual and soulful! Byard could play plenty outside when he wanted to – but the vibe here is a bit more inside and rhythmic – with tracks that are both heavy on modal rhythms, and a range of different percussive cues at the core – in a small group that has Byard himself on alto and flutes, plus a bit of piano – next to the great Khan Jamal on vibes and marimba, Alfie Pollitt on piano, and Keno Speller and Brett Andrew on congas, bongos, and shekere!

The Men On A Mission gospel quartet provide lyrics on a few tracks – and titles include "Dahomey Dance", "Follow Me", "Sweet Evil", "It's Gonna Rain", "Hard Times", and a completely sublime version of "The Creator Has A Master Plan".
