Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue, on which the trumpeter’s classic composition “So What” first appeared, remains one of the most iconic and influential jazz albums of all time, and “So What” remains one of jazz’s most performed standards. In 2021, the tune was ranked 492 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

This LP presents four different readings of “So What”: the original studio recording, the 1961 Carnegie Hall arrangement with the Gil Evans Orchestra, and two splendid quintet versions taped live in Europe in 1960 during John Coltrane’s last tour with Miles.
