It not only ticks the jazz box but will also appeal to film enthusiasts and soundtrack experts - let alone jazz listeners, who'll have to join the queue - by presenting them with some of the most extraordinary musc in this genre to find its way onto disc.

There is barely space for all the facts here but these scores, including Mancini's A Touch of Evil and Ellington's Anatomy of A Murder, allowed some of the finest jazz composers of the mid-20th century to extend and develop their ideas within th timespans and aesthetics of one of the most evocative of film genres, with memorable results that nonetheless retain their individuality.
