Canadian singer Densil Pinnock, who has since changed his name to Denzal Sinclaire, is a likable and appealing singer.  While influenced a little by Nat King Cole, he does not emulate past masters except in the classiness of his presentation.

Pinnock mostly sticks close to the melodies and the words of these standards, giving each song a light swing and attractive phrasing.  There is concise solo space for the horns including guest tenor Jimmy Heath and the fine trumpeter Kevin Dean, while pianist Richard Wyands leads the top-notch rhythm section.  All in all, the music is a bit safe but quite enjoyable. It is surprising that Pinnock (or Sinclaire) has recorded so little during his career thus far because he has a definite charm and a strong voice.
