This release presents the complete original Horace Silver albums The Tokyo Blues (Blue Note BST 84110) and Horace-Scope (Blue Note BST 84042). Both LPs showcase the leader on piano in a quintet format with Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Junior Cook on tenor sax, and Gene Taylor on bass (the drummer on the former LP is Joe Harris, while Roy Brooks is featured on the latter).
