This release contains two complete consecutive albums recorded by Andy Williams for Columbia in 1961-62, accompanied on each by an orchestra conducted and arranged by Robert Mersey. Danny Boy and Other Songs I Love to Sing (Columbia CS 8551) is a selection of very well known songs, which predated his most successful LP, Moon River & Other Great Movie Themes (Columbia CS 8609). The latter was taped shortly after Williams sang the theme song during the Academy Awards ceremony. Williams’ classic hit “Canadian Sunset”, which reached #7 on the Billboard chart, has been added as a bonus. On that tune, the singer harmonizes with himself through the magic of overdubbing.
