DOUBLE GATEFOLD LP - DIGITAL DOWNLOAD INCLUDED
The third volume presents Stéphane Grappelli in a previously unheard 1957 studio session recorded in Hamburg with Maurice Vender on piano, Hand “James” Last on bass, and Rolf Ahrens on drums. The 20 tracks on the CD offer an ample selection of well known standards and counts among the best of Grappelli's efforts in a time in which he still wasn't revered as a jazz great as he would be a few years later (his old partner Django Reinhardt had died in 1953 and swing was considered out of fashion by the mid 1950s).
