This recording celebrates the launch of the new, official Miles Davis Website. Recorded live at birdland in New York City, May 26th, 1998, on what would have been the jazz icon's 72nd Birthday, this concert once again documents the Miles Davis legacy. One of the Miles' traits was his ability ton identify and nurture young new artists in developing a voice of their own, These artists, togheter with Miles, forged new directions and styles of jazz that still remain in evidence today. Comprised of alumni of the various Miles Davis ensembles performing signature Miles classics, the jazz heritage of the great trumpeter is heard throughout this extraordinary one-time event that so honors his music and his memory.
