Despite its title, which could suggest a live date, this CD consists of a complete 1979 studio session made for the Contemporary label by the great Spanish jazz pianist Tete Montoliu (1933-1997). The date first appeared on LP, but this CD edition adds a seventh tune ("Margareta") not present on the vinyl, and which completes the session.

On this delightful set, Tete combines his own compositions with perennial jazz standards, such as Sonny Rollins "Airegin", Billy Eckstine's "I Want to Talk About You", and Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady".

The jewel of the day, however, is the nearly 10-minute version of "Put Your Little Foot Right Out" (the Larry Spier song on which Miles Davis based his "Fran Dance"), a tour-de-force on which Chick Corea joins Tete on a second piano for their only collaborative effort. They start melodically and almost romantically, slowly developing the improvisation into freer grounds. A truly memorable moment for both pianists, which ends with Corea’s sound laugh, and in the whole an album to listen to once and again.
