Ray Anthony is one of the few (if not the only) bandleaders of his era who is still playing and active. This CD includes two classic albums by Ray Anthony and his orchestra in their entirety: Young Ideas and Moments Together. These consecutive LPs from Anthony’s discography were recorded over a short period of time. While both were intended for dance halls, they are a bit different in concept and format. Young Ideas adds the sound of four cellos (the names of these players were not mentioned on the original LP covers or in discographies) to the Ray Anthony orchestra. Moments Together, on the other hand, combines the Anthony orchestra with a vocal group. In both cases, the mellow sound of Ray Anthony’s trumpet shines throughout these recordings. At the end of out release, has been added two rare tracks, “Cello-Phane” and “The Lonely Trumpet” which were recorded during the same sessions but originally appeared only as singles.
[1-12] : YOUNG IDEAS. Hollywood, April 8-22, 1957.
[13-24]: MOMENTS TOGETHER. Hollywood, May 15-June 7, 1957.
