Barron, the 72-year-old Philadelphia-born virtuoso, has absorbed an encyclopedia of jazz methods from a life on the road with legends such as Ella Fitzgerald and Stan Getz, and it pours out in these tracks. His cohorts in the trio are simply marvelous as usual. All the compositions are by Barron save for two by Monk and one by Charlie Haden.
