This release presents some of the best recordings made by Muddy Waters, who virtually created the blues “band” format that shaped the post-war Chicago blues sound.

All of the tracks included here are commercial recordings with excellent sound quality, and showcase Waters backed by such stars as Little Walter, Junior Wells, Jimmy Rogers, Willie Dixon, and Otis Spann, among others.

This set contains Waters’ two earliest LPs in their entireties, At Newport (Chess-1449) and Muddy Waters Sings “Big Bill” (Chess-1444) –the latter atribute to “BigBill Broonzy–, plus his complete 1947-55 Aristocrat andChess singles, including both A & B Sides.
