This LP includes some of the earliest sides by the Chet Baker Quartet with Russ Freeman, which were originally issued on a variety of 10” LPs and 78 rpm discs, and then put into 12” LPs such as the one reissued here. These tunes would seed Baker’s back catalog of material, becoming staples during his 30-plus-year repertoire.

Of considerable interest to collectors and hardcore enthusiasts of the Chet Baker Quartet Featuring Russ Freeman are both the 10” EP and the 12” LP takes of “Long Ago and Far Away” and “The Thrill Is Gone”. Some of the tracks here are instrumental, while others are vocal, showcasing the two amazing sides of Chet’s incomparable talents.
