Dexter Gordon

This release is a very Special addition to the already sizeable discography of Dexter Gordon. Shortly before the Persepolis concert - in December 1 962 - his third Blue Note album Go! had come out: an American studio session recorded on 27 August 1962, shortly before he left to Europe.

On 23 May 1963 Gordon would record Our Man in Paris in the Fernch capital, his first European studio album but that wasn´t released until December 1963. These Dutch recordings were made right between these two dates. This makes In The Cave the first European album by the man who would remain in Europe for no less than 14 years.
