Huey “Piano” Smith stands tall as one of the major creators of New Orleans rhythm & blues, alongside fellow legends Dr. John, Fats Domino, Ernie K-Doe, and Allen Toussaint. A great pianist, singer, composer, arranger and producer, Smith created wonderful songs that became R&B classics, which hundreds of artists would later cover. Here you can find two of the fabulous albums Huey Smith released during the peak of his music career (backed by his vocal group The Clowns): the celebrated Having a Good Time (featuring the 1957 smash “Rocking Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu”), plus the underrated and long unavailable LP ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. These two long plays have been remastered and packaged together in this collector’s edition, which also contains 7 bonus tracks – including hard-to-find sides issued by the Ace and Imperial labels.
Recorded in New Orleans (Louisiana) and Jackson (Mississippi), 1956-1962.
