This reissue presents the tenth album by the legendary singer and songwriter, entitled Now Here’s Johnny Cash and released by Sun Records during the fall of 1961. It featured a handful of top-shelf tunes such as Cry! Cry! Cry!, (the first Sun single) and Home of the Blues which had all been hits for Cash in the ‘50s, and early compositions like Port of Lonely Hearts and My Treasure, which made their first public appearances on this album.

Hey Porter, one of Cash’s first major hits for the label in 1955, appeared here on album for the first time. Also present are several classic Cash sides, including Life Goes On and So Doggone Lonesome, as well as the sentimental cuts Sugartime and Down the Street to 301, which Cash handles with graceful aplomb.

His undubbed take on Don Gibson’s Oh Lonesome Me N (which have been included instead of the album’s overdubbed version) is one of the better renditions of the old chestnut and shows off the beautiful simplicity of Cash with The Tennessee Two.
