This quintessential edition includes Etta’s sensational fifth LP Sings for Lovers, originally released on the Argo label (a subsidiary of Chess Records) in November 1962. It has been long unavailable on vinyl until now. Although it was Etta’s favorite of her own albums, this long play spawned only one single, “Fools Rush In,” which reached the lower ends of the Billboard Pop Chart that same year. The single’s B-side, “Next Door to the Blues” (included here as a bonus track) was a major R&B hit, but it was not included on the LP. This album also contains cover versions of pop and jazz standards, such as “These Foolish Things,” “Don’t Take Your Love from Me,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.”
